Universal School Meals

All children in Reception and Key Stage 1 are entitled to a free school meal under the Government’s Universal Free School Meal Scheme which came into effect on September 1st 2014. It is still important to make an application for free school meals as the school will receive additional funding, known as pupil premium, for every eligible children.

Free school meals

Pupils are entitled to free school meals if their parents receive:

  • Income support
  • Income based job seekers’ allowance
  • Employment support allowance (income related)
  • Child tax credit allowance with no working tax credit and an annual income below £16,190
  • Pension credit
  • Support under part V1 of the immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
